Used in investigation of Cushing's syndrome and Addisons. Usually paired with plasma cortisol in dynamic function tests.
Pre-analytical
Samples for basal ACTH should be taken between 0700-1000hrs. The stress caused by venepuncture may elevate its concentration. Sample must be received in lab within 8h collection
