Sent if quantitative a1AT is less than 1.3 g/l and on all paediatric AATs. May be requested in the investigation of liver disease in neonates/infants with A1AT of any value. May be requested in the investigation of recurrent lung infections in all ages. If requested in neonates - must be 3-4 weeks post transfusion for phenotyping.
