CategoryMicrobiology - Virology
Test information
RSV antigen detection is most useful in children <1 year during "RSV season" which typically occurs in late September to early November. Outside this season and patient cohort a throat swab for the molecular detection of RSV is preferred due to improved sensitivity and specificity.
