How busy are the Emergency Departments and Minor Injuries Units right now?

The information on this screen gives you an at-a-glance view of how busy each Emergency Department and Minor Injury Unit was at the last updated date and time as indicated below. Please note that this may not reflect the actual picture during very busy periods. The information is automatically refreshed at frequent intervals.

The ‘number of patients currently waiting’ column refers to those patients waiting to be assessed.  It does not include patients who have had an initial assessment and are still in the department waiting for treatment.

The ‘current longest waiting time’ column refers to the longest current waiting time to be seen by a nurse practitioner or doctor. Once you are seen by a nurse or doctor you may still have to wait several hours for treatment especially when the department is busy.

You can also find out what services are offered as well as their opening times and locations, by clicking on the 'facilities, opening times and maps' section. If you are not sure which service is best for you, visit our 'Alternatives to A&E page' or ask for advice from the NHS 111 service.

Remember, A&E is for major, life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
