Worcestershire hospitals appoint new pharmacy director

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed Richard Cattell as its new Director of Pharmacy to help improve patient experience and care through medicine optimisation.

The role involves leading a large team of highly-skilled pharmacists, technicians and assistants, ensuring that everyone involved in handling medicine is supported. The aim of the pharmacy team is to deliver a quality patient-centred service where ‘the right patient receives the right medicine at the right time’.

Richard brings with him a wealth of knowledge to the role, having carried out many high-level positions within the NHS. Coming from a background in pharmacy Richard is going back to his roots again after most recently working as a Director of Operations at Dudley Group NHS FT and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Richard said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Director of Pharmacy and am thoroughly looking forward to the challenges this role will bring. I am passionate about patient care and quality and will work to ensure the highest standards are met for our patients across the trust and within pharmacy itself.”

Chief Medical Officer, Andy Phillips said: “We’re very pleased to be able to appoint Richard to this role. His appointment allows us to continue to drive improvements in pharmacy and patient experience.”
