The information below will help to give you an indication of how busy each of our local Emergency Departments and Minor Injury Units are.
The patient numbers and waiting times are automatically refreshed at regular intervals – but please note the important points below.
Please bear in mind that the figures for the ‘number of patients currently waiting’ column only includes those patients waiting to be assessed. It does not include patients who have had an initial assessment and are waiting for treatment, so the actual number of people in the department may be significantly higher than the figure shown.
The ‘current longest waiting time’ information refers to the longest current waiting time to be seen by a nurse practitioner or doctor. Once you are seen by a nurse or doctor you may still have to wait several hours for treatment especially when the department is busy.
You can find out what services are offered as well as their opening times and locations, by clicking on the 'facilities, opening times and maps' section. If you are not sure which service is best for you, visit our 'Alternatives to A&E page' or ask for advice from the NHS 111 service.
